About

I was 20, in civil engineering, mortgage and all — ticking boxes, doing what I was supposed to. But deep down, I knew I was built for something else. I am an adventurer at heart and always have been.

So I sold what I could and hit the road traveling around Australia for 2 years to the most remote corners in an old LandCruiser. I lived out of the back of it. No timeline — just chasing horizons with an EOS 1 film camera in hand. That trip lit the fuse.

Adventure runs in the blood. My grandfather pioneered airlines across the Pacific. He built airstrips and resorts on impossible islands where my mum grew up running farms and island tours. I grew up restless, always chasing the next thing.

After a few wild years, I built a landscaping business from nothing. It did well, but photography kept pulling at me. After a surf trip to Bali, I backed myself — sold the lot and moved overseas to shoot full-time. I had no plan B.

The gallery I opened in Bali got me into the game. A trip to Hawaii sharpened my vision —bigger, bolder, less safe. I started landing magazine covers, commercial campaigns, and global shoots, which turned into a successful career for over 15 years and I became one of the world’s leading Surf Photographers — all the while shooting for high end fashion brands, working on my own projects and others making my client list and body of work much more varied than just one industry.

Today, I shoot real moments for brands and companies that don’t play it safe — Discovery Channel, Aman Resorts, Versace, National Geographic, Vanity Fair, Based On A True Story Journeys and many others. I bring the same raw energy to remote coastlines, ancient villages or five-star villas.

In recent years I have had the incredible pleasure to be on assignments across the globe to every corner of the earth capturing truly extraordinary experiences with private luxury travel,  shooting high net worth clients, Royals, and celebrities on adventures you can only dream about.

I am renowned for capturing the real soul and feel of the person, family or group achieving those lifelong memories and moments, all while being very conscious of personal space and privacy. It’s a fine line that I take very seriously and am well known for my discretion and confidentiality and I am highly regarded for this within the high end world of VIP clients. Almost all of my assignments are private, so unfortunately, I can’t show you that side of things. The only way to see those is if you were to meet one of my clients and they show you some of the incredible books I’ve shot.

I capture the human element and soul of the places and people I come across. Respect for the land and local culture is key to capturing timeless well considered and artistically presented images that make people feel emotionally connected to that moment in time. And they are moments that can and never will be replicated. Its my job to find that split second and document it forever. I strive to shoot images that has a timeless substance with no expiry date

I don’t shoot trends. I shoot stories that make you feel something. I capture images that allow generations to dream.
